Back to School

Our boys couldn't be more different!!!

Alec was totally dressed including socks and shoes and breakfast by 7am this morning ready for his first day of fourth grade. He stood around watching cartoons for about an hour and a half.

My conversation with Ethan on the other hand went like this...

8:00am Claudia: "Hey buddy, it's time to get up and get ready for your first day of kindergarten."

Ethan: (rolls around on the bed) "UGGGHH" Oh, yea...I guess I was so excited that I forgot."

Carter on the other hand, thought he was going to kindergarten...he eased his way into Ethan's class and got a book from the shelf, sat on the carpet and started thumbing through it as if he was at the public library. I was tempted to leave him...just to see if the teacher would even notice him. But, Ben eventually dragged him out kicking and screaming..."My Alec....My Ethan...My brothers...find them!!!!!"

alison said...: we were having a similar day. the boys--who know the drill by now--were up and going, but katie we had to drag out of bed, which is really unusual for her. Ryan found his 72 hr kit backpack and was wearing it around the house all day--i think maybe we should try leaving him and carter there sometime.; August 18, 2008 at 7:24 PM

Deep Thoughts of a Six Year Old

"So who is the first person the baby sees when she comes out of you?"

"When we ate food in the pre-mortal life, our food would fall out of our bodies just after we ate it."

"Mom, If I don't get married by the time I'm old, I will just go on a Mission."

"From now on, I'm going to be a 'Thumb's up' guy." What does that mean Ethan? "Than I'm not gonna wet my pants anymore. "

Second Day of Kindergarten:
Teacher: "...and this is the class kitchen"
Ethan: "But this is fake!" "When are we going to the real kitchen?"

"Mom, Can we buy a dog that isn't certain?" What are you talking about Ethan? "You said that you are allergic to certain dogs, so I want to get one that isn't certain."

"Mom, Are you gonna color your hair soon? I'm tired of looking at that dark brown hair. I want it to be lighter...like red."

"I don't like Sundays!" "Why can't we stay home from church like everyone else?" Who is everyone else? "All the people that ride their bikes and play golf !"

" Mom, do we get closer to dying the older we get?" "Yea. I guess so." "So grandma and grandpa are closer to dying than me and Carter?" "Yea. I guess you can say that."

"What was the first bathroom ever???" "I don't know, Ethan? I give up." "Grass and trees!"

"We need to get BAM Toilet Unclogger...it unclogs toilets and drains and cleans stains!!"

"If spiders weren't invented...would flies rule the whole earth?

"I wish I could make 3 copies of myself in a clone machine so if a mean guy tried to take me away, he wouldn't know which Ethan to take."

"If I get bit by a spider...will I be able to climb walls and ceilings?

"Where can we buy 5 teleporters? I bet we can go to a teleporter store" Why do you want 5 teleporters, Ethan? "So we can go to Hawaii."

"I didn't wet my pants...just my underwear."
"
"Hey mom I just found Saturn in my cereal bowl! See the planet..and there's the ring."
